January 2020 Biz Spotlight- Mobile reCell

Check out this month's business spotlight on Fishers-based Mobile reCell. CEO & Founder Ben Jones and his team are changing the mobile device recovery industry and experiencing impressive growth as a result.
Over the last 20 years, the issuance of mobile devices by businesses to its employees has increased enormously. An important, yet often- overlooked, step in the mobile device life cycle is that of device recovery, following an employee’s departure or device upgrade.

For years, a lack of structure in the device recovery process has left organizations with liabilities and costs associated with each issued device—both from a data protection and physical asset standpoint.

From a high level, Mobile reCell assists companies in the collection of their retired corporate- owned mobile devices, outsources the data destruction and cosmetic grading to a Chicago partner, ultimately selling the devices to one of over ten thousand channels, for the highest value.

"Initially, I was buying iPhones on Craigslist and selling them on eBay while in college to help pay for tuition. When the large carriers entered the consumer trade-in space-- and Craigslist became increasingly dangerous-- in 2013, I decided it was time to explore how my experience could be leveraged in another vertical," said Ben Jones, Founder & CEO of Mobile reCell.

After a short-lived idea for a device trade-in, price comparison engine, Jones soon came to realize the evident void in the mobile device recovery process among businesses, ultimately leading to the development of what is now known as, Mobile reCell.
